Stamford High School Athletics

Interscholastic athletics are a vital part of school life. The school sponsors 24 varsity sports as well as their sub varsity partners. We encourage all students to participate in the athletic program. Stamford High School is a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The CIAC is the governing body for high school sports in the state. The body sponsors state tournament play and regulates eligibility for play within our state. Each school is placed in a division based on its student enrollment. Stamford plays in the LL division, which is the large school division. State tournaments follow regular league play and are run under the single elimination format. Stamford High School has won over 40 state championships in various sports throughout the years. The school plays in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC). The league is made up of 19 schools. Stamford plays in the Western Division and has won over 100 division and league championships. Schedules for each sport are available in the main office or from the Athletic Director. Rainouts are usually played the following day. Practices are generally held every week day and can often run into vacation periods.

Physicals - Blue Card Fall 2022-23 Procedure

This upcoming fall 2022-23 season, we are returning to the traditional Blue Card system. All potential athletes must have an up-to-date physical (Physicals are valid for 13 months from the physical date).  Athletes must get a blue card filled out by a parent/guardian and then stamped by the nurse in order to tryout/participate. Those stamped blue cards are presented to the coach before participation can begin. Blue cards can be found at the front desk, athletics director's office or nurse's office. They can also be printed out from the PDF below.
