Interscholastic athletics are a vital part of school life. The school sponsors 24 varsity sports as well as their sub varsity partners. We encourage all students to participate in the athletic program. Stamford High School is a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The CIAC is the governing body for high school sports in the state. The body sponsors state tournament play and regulates eligibility for play within our state. Each school is placed in a division based on its student enrollment. Stamford plays in the LL division, which is the large school division. State tournaments follow regular league play and are run under the single elimination format. Stamford High School has won over 40 state championships in various sports throughout the years. The school plays in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC). The league is made up of 19 schools. Stamford plays in the Western Division and has won over 100 division and league championships. Schedules for each sport are available in the main office or from the Athletic Director. UPDATE - We have had delays that have not allowed us to receive the delivery and delayed the start of turf installation. We are hoping that installation will begin by the end of the week of the 17th. Unfortunately, right now I think the best case scenario is baseball by the end of April and I don't have a timeline on softball.
~ For baseball, we will continue to use Belltown for practices and we will move home varsity games to Cubeta whenever possible or the road if needed, in two week increments. JV and Freshman games will be at Belltown.
~ For softball will continue at Troy Fields each day. We will have a bus to take the girls there after school each day. We will also play our Varsity and JV games there as well for the foreseeable future
I will continue to update as I get more information.
~ With the upper lacrosse field still offline, we now have boys and girls lacrosse as well as track in Boyle. We are looking at sending track to Rippowam three days a week to avoid the amount of crossover since we cannot stagger track and lacrosse as we have done in the past.
